Rigly Horse Liniment

This liniment aids in the relief of temporary muscular soreness, swelling and stiffness caused by exposure, overwork or exertion. It also stimulates circulation to areas where applied. It is based on the well known mild rubifacients methyl salicylate, menthol, camphor and eucalyptus oil. The use of a liniment is a well-established treatment that is applied when horses incur temporary muscular soreness and stiffness from a workout. RIGLY HORSE LINIMENT helps relieve these discomforts and the prompt use of this liniment can help minimise the degree of stiffness and soreness that can settle in. Fatigued muscles need more food, more energy and fast removal of waste products. The blood supplies these needs. A liniment stimulates the blood flow where applied, thus helping meet the muscle requirements. To improve the stimulating effect, simply massage in RIGLY HORSE LINIMENT.

The product is recommended for application to the legs for relief of temporary muscular soreness and stiffness where the product should be thoroughly applied 3 or more times per day. The effect can be improved by first sponging the application areas with warm water to open the pores of the skin and then after drying the surface, applying the product. The product is also used by professional trainers to set up horses after a workout. After the day's workout, apply the liniment to all 4 legs and wrap lightly.

Do not bandage too tightly. The product is also applied to the back, loin and shoulders for relief of soreness and stiffness, where once again the area is first rubbed down with a heavy towel that has been wrung out in hot water, and then dried and the liniment applied, after which a heavy blanket is attached to the horse. Under these circumstances, care should be taken to prevent the horse from being exposed to draughts. This product does not cause blistering or removal of hair.

NB:  Any product that contains Salicylic acid, Acetylsalicylic and/or Methyl salicylic acid must please not be used or rubbed in under bandages for at least 3 days before the start of the ride.  (Remember – the ride already starts with the pre-checks). 

Should natural levels be exceeded, it will be recorded as testing positive for a prohibited substance.
